Players in any of those countries can participate in various Americas Cup of Poker daily tournaments that are being held right now at PokerStars. They can enter a freeroll or pay $0.20 or $5.50 to enter paid tournaments, and their aim is to score as many points as they can for their team.

Competing nations have been divided into four groups and when all group matches have come to an end the top two nations from each group will progress to the live Americas Cup of Poker live final in Argentina. The five online players who contributed the most points to each of the eight advancing teams will be invited to play for their country (Wildcard countries are dealt with slightly differently so check the rules at PokerStars for clarification). A PokerStars Pro will be added to each team to bring a welcome dash of tournament expertise to the event.

As we said at the outset, the live Americas Cup of Poker final will have a prize pool worth $250,000, and each of the eight participating teams will take a slice of that sum. The top prize for the eventual winner will be $100,000 and prizes for teams finishing in second, third and fourth place will be $60,000, $30,000 and $20,000 respectively. Teams finishing in 5th-8th place will win $10,000 for their efforts.
